2 held for killing 5 Purnia residents in Ferozepur district

PURNIA: Punjab police have cracked the case of killing of five members of a single family of Pokher-Tola at Ganeshpur under Krityanandnagar police station in Purnia district whose bodies were found inside their house at village Telwandi in Ferozpur district on March 19 when they arrested two suspected assailants recently.
Purnia SP Ajit Kumar Satyarthi on Sunday said two suspected assailants--Wakil Singh and Jasprit Singh--were arrested by Ferozpur police recently.Reiterating that he was in constant touch with his Ferozpur counterpart SSP Hardayal Singh, SP Sayarthi said the apprehended culprits had not only confessed their involvement in killing five members of a family, including Banke Mandal, his wife Shitla Devi, their two sons Nandu Mandal and Kundan Mandal and daughter-in-law Lalitha but also their 'missing' daughter.
Spilling beans on the killings, Sayarthi said he had been informed that the nabbed assailants had confessed the collective killings were related to a love affair. They had carried out the killings after friend Malkit Singh was charged with sexual assault of Banke's daughter and is currently under judicial custody. The horrifying incident was a reprisal to the arrest of their colleague Malkit Singh, the Purnia SP said. Under a conspiracy hatched by them, they first laid a trap and hooked Banke's daughter and later axed all five members of her family. They also confessed to Banke's daughter after intoxicating her with some drugs. They said they had thrown her body into a canal, the SP said. Her body has still not been found, SP Sayarthi said quoting his Ferozpur counterpart.
